Dulles’ book, A History of Apologetics (published by Ignatius Press).  Rather than meaning Catholics are “sorry” for what they believe, the word “apologetics” (from the Greek apologia or “defense”) means to give an explanation of why Catholics believe what we believe.  Cardinal Dulles’ book traces the history of how Christians explained and defended their faith, from New Testament times until modern times.
